CRY-ROP is one of four ROPs this year that has been invited to participate in a Roadtrip Nation pilot. This program will begin Spring of 2010 and will involve over 1,000 CRY-ROP students. As part of the program, students will be making appointments to interview various working professionals in their local area to discover the paths these people followed to get where they are today. Professionals will share defining moments in their lives, reflect on the decisions they’ve made over the course of their career, and offer recommendations and advise to our students. Students will benefit from the experiences as their minds open to what’s possible and they begin to plan for their futures.
WorkAbility I Students Shine at Crafton Hills College
Robyn Blue, a teacher at Crafton Hills College, was pleased to report that she has had a positive experience with two of our WAI students from Yucaipa High School, Christian Perryman and Dakota Dorrough-Tucker. The two students work at the Crafton Hills College Child Development Center two to three times per week. According to Ms. Blue, the two young men aid the teachers in supervising and interacting with approximately thirty children. The children really enjoy having them to play with and talk to; it’s like having a big brother there! The two assist in day-to- day activities such as putting bikes and toys away, sweeping, raking, story-telling, playing games and engaging the children in learning new songs. Christian and Dakota are patient and caring and their positive attitude towards the children along with their friendly personalities make them a valuable asset to the school.

The awards program, now in its 28th year, promotes excellence in education by recognizing outstanding programs in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. Out of more than 200 districts/county offices that applied only 60 received the award and CRY-ROP is very proud to be among this impressive group.
